Happy birthday Steve-Dad, We are belated wishing you the most awesome of birthdays as well as writing a bit about Fes, Morocco, so here is a gift of scribbles. As soon as the sun sets, everyone in Fes takes to the streets for a walk along the wide roads through Ville Nouvelle, or New Town. They've eaten at home already, or will later – the few restaurants and snack shops are empty compared to the sidewalks. There's music coming over loudspeakers that hang from just below the streetlights. Our stroll has an Arabic pop soundtrack, it keeps your feet moving. The kids out with their parents indulge in ice cream that mysteriously doesn't melt, even in the still warm night; in layered cakes with cream and sugar glazes; in candy and chocolates that leave sticky fingers and stickier smiles. The kids not out with their parents mostly stalk around in packs, only the ones that are alone are desperate or needy enough to beg. Love – Lauren + Todd
