Drawing of drinkers at a nameless Pisac bar

After a long, hot day spent exploring the old town of Pisac, Peru, I persuade Lauren to share a beer with me at a nameless bar. At the next table, four men laugh hard and loud together. Their accents and my beginner Spanish make it impossible to listen in on the stories they share, yet it’s impossible to not smile along with their happy noise.

Surrounded by their laughter, I draw an intimate moment on the other side of the room, where a couple sits, talking quietly to each other. As we leave the bar, I give the couple the drawing.
